Welcome to the “Do It Yourself” section of OBriensWorld. I know from talking with many of you that the readers of this site workout in many different ways and not everyone has access to a standard gym with a wide array of equipment. Many of you have to get creative in substituting exercises. This page is meant to give you ideas for creating your own equipment to fill some of those gaps.

The links below are only some of the thousands of ways you can create equipment for yourself. If you find these suggestions don’t work well or you come across better ways of making similar equipment, please share in the comments. If you have good suggestions for additional DIY equipment, share those as well. I will continue to update this page as ideas and recommendations come in. My hope is that over time this will become a comprehensive reference for everyone looking to create DIY fitness equipment.

  • If you need a smaller box height than the ones above you might have to get a little creative and adjust the measurements to fit with the heights you want to build. General construction should be the same.

  • I have also seen versions of the two above where you wrap a 3″ or 4″ PVC Pipe with cork drawer matting.

  • Suspension Trainer Workout Ideas – We don’t use Suspension Trainers in the workouts on this site but they are a great way to train, especially if you are traveling. You can make the one in the video above and easily pack it and bring it with you to have a full body workout wherever you go.
